Event Registration
Often, the activities, news coverage and studies about Black life focus on traumatic events such as enslavement, injustice, and the struggle for civil rights, which does not paint a full picture of the Black experience. This interactive workshop will include a panel discussion with educators and teaching artists about facilitating conversations and lessons with students that decentralize trauma in relation to blackness. Participants will have an opportunity to create a lesson or discussion plan, collaborate with other organizations, share their approaches, and ask questions.
Facilitators: Jassmine Parks, Justin Rogers, Shawntai Brown
Who this is for: Youth development professionals, educators, teaching artists, mentors looking to engage students in conversations about Black culture, events or people.
Zoom log-in details will be sent prior to February 22nd.
