Children are the center of our universe as youth development professionals, but far too often we leave parents/caregivers out of the equation in our efforts to support youth. Why is that? And what gets lost for kids as a result? This session will seek to explore the tremendous opportunity at the intersection of youth development and family engagement. Learn more about how to effectively communicate with parents and caregivers, how to mobilize family members as volunteers, and how to embrace and elevate parent advocates championing for the betterment of all youth.
Facilitated by: Bernita Bradley (The Village PCL), Maria Salinas (Congress of Communities), and Tammie Jones (Youth Development Resource Center)
